Less Than a Week!
Well, we are in the home stretch...less than a week till Miya's due date! We put together our new "BOB" stroller last night...a big thanks to Miya's co-workers who pooled their resources and got this for us at Miya's work baby shower. We also packed (kind of) our bags to take to the hospital when it's baby time. And thanks to Yoon, we have a great new camera to take lots of pics of Baby Doane. I also installed some wall-mounted lamps on each side of the bed, so if one of us has to get up in the middle of the night (her) the other can sleep comfortably and undisturbed (me)...my best idea yet!
We've got BIG plans for possibly our last weekend as a family of 2. First, Hangover 2 at the Crest Theatre on Friday. Then, off to the musical Aladdin and dinner at The Met on Saturday, and maybe see some friends at a BBQ afterwards. Finally, Sunday is rest day...one last opportunity to sleep in and relax. And maybe actually clean out the garage.
Miya is hanging in there. She's starting to get uncomfortable and is feeling the effects of Baby Doane on her back and feet. She's managed to negotiate several foot rubs from me in that last couple of weeks...a small price to pay for all of the hard work she is doing everyday. I am amazed at how great she has handled this pregnancy and how beautiful she looks with our baby in her tummy. Baby Doane will be lucky to have such a great mommy!
We don't know if we are having a boy or a girl, but if it's a girl, I hope it dresses just like our newest favorite baby, Mia Tran!

10 Days Till Due Date!
Not too much to report right now. Miya is staying cool despite the recent summer heat wave. We bought a few accessories for the stroller and a mirror to see the baby in the car seat when we are driving (because the car seat faces to the rear of the car).
We are about to start packing the bags we are taking with us to the hospital. Besides clothes, slippers, and a cell phone charger, what else should we bring?
Our parents are taking a Grandparents Class tomorrow, taught by Swedish Hospital. I hope they learn some new and exciting things!
Until Baby Doane arrives, this is who is keeping its crib warm...

4th of July
Here are some pictures Rebecca took at our 4th of July BBQ. It was great that everybody could get together. Thanks to those that made the trip, including those from Colorado, California, Oregon, and southern Washington. Next 4th of July, we will have one more family member to celebrate with!

3 Weeks To Go!
We are now only 3 weeks (and 1 day) away from Miya's due date of August 4th! We have completed the nursery, washed the baby clothes, and put together the Pack n' Play. We have attended a number of baby classes too, including Newborn Care, Breastfeeding, Infant CPR and Childbirth Preparation. I even went to a Conscious Fathering class a few weeks ago (which was great). I think we are as ready as we can be, given that we don't quite know what to expect.
There are still a few things that we need to do. Most importantly, we need to pack Miya's overnight hospital bag (and mine). And we need to put together a "labor playlist" on the iPod. And we need to decide on a pediatrician...how are you supposed to do that? We are looking at baby doctors at Swedish Edmonds Birth & Family Clinic. If anyone has a suggestion, please let us know. Oh yeah, I need to finish cleaning out the garage too!
Miya is doing great. She has been suffering from swollen feet and hands the last couple of weeks, and overall is getting more tired lately, but she has been great at sticking it out with a smile :) She is a beautiful pregnant wife and will be an incredible mommy. I can't wait to see her in action with Baby Doane!
We will be having the babe at Swedish Ballard. We don't know if it's a boy or a girl yet...it's going to be a surprise. We have whittled down our name choices to a very short list, but nothing is set in stone yet. I suggested Jeremiah (Jeremy + Miya), but Miya promptly nixed that idea. Maybe for the next baby...
Finally, we very much appreciate everyone who has provided gifts at baby showers, handed down baby items that we were needing, and offered up advice and included us in their prayers. The support that we have received from our family and friends has been amazing. Thank you for everything that you have done for us!
We will continue to update this blog as we get closer to August 4th. Keep checking back often to see what's new with Baby Doane and Mommy Miya!

Nursery Update
Here is a short video of the nursery. It is just about finished, only a few paint touch-ups here and there.
